The Australian Government Earmarked Scholarships are now available for applications from both domestic and international students aiming to enroll in a PhD program at the University of Queensland for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Must have completed some research experience.
2. Must hold an approved university degree.
3. Must meet the English Language requirements.

Approved Degrees

1. Master of Philosophy (or another research master’s degree).
2. Bachelor’s degree from an approved university with at least honors class IIA or equivalent.
3. Coursework master’s degree with a minimum GPA of 5.65 on the 7-point UQ scale, including relevant research experience.
4. Postgraduate degree (at least one year full-time or equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 5 on the 7-point UQ scale, plus demonstrated research experience equivalent to honors class IIA (considered on a case-by-case basis).
5. Bachelor’s degree plus at least 2 years of relevant research experience, including research publications.


1. A living stipend of $35,000 per annum, tax-free (indexed annually).
2. Coverage of tuition fees.
3. Single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
