1. University of Toronto, Ontario Graduate Scholarship

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) program promotes academic excellence at Ontario’s publicly funded universities. Since 1975, the OGS program has awarded merit-based scholarships to Ontario’s top graduate students in all fields of study. The scholarship program at the University is funded jointly by the province of Ontario and the university. The province allocates OGS awards to universities, specifying the number of awards each may offer to students each year.

Eligibility
  1. By the student deadline set by each graduate unit, you must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a protected person under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada). International students with a temporary resident visa (student study permit) who are studying or plan to study at the University of Toronto are eligible for a limited number of OGS awards.
  2. You must be enrolled or intend to enroll full-time in an eligible program in 2023-2024
  3. A full-time program of study of two or three terms at the University of Toronto leading to a graduate degree is defined as an eligible program. A full-time student is one who is enrolled in at least 60% of a full-time course load (40% for students with permanent disabilities) or as defined by their institution. Each graduate unit determines program eligibility on an individual basis.
  4. Students should carefully read the information provided by the graduate unit in which they intend to enroll to determine whether their program is eligible for the graduate unit’s OGS competition.
  5. You must not exceed the lifetime maximum of government-funded support or the maximum OGS/QEII support available for your current level of study and have obtained at least an A in each of the last two years of study; or if the student has completed two years or more of graduate studies at the time of application, the student must only demonstrate an overall average of at least an A on a scale of A to F.
Application Requirements
  • Previous recognition, publication, conference, and research experience
  • Transcripts from all postsecondary educational institutions
  • Plan of Study (maximum of two pages: one for the Plan of Study and one for references/citations).
  • two scholarly references (referees will be required to submit them online).

2. McMaster University Scholarships

Deadline: not decided

Status: Currently ongoing

Opening date: September 21st, 2022

Award Value: Up to 2500 dollars to over 10,000 dollars

This scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Graduate students receive funding from the university so that they can devote their time and energy to successfully completing their studies.

Doctoral students who meet the criterias are eligible for financial assistance that meets or exceeds the annual minimum value of full-time tuition plus $13,500. Furthermore, the majority of Masters students enrolled in research-degree programs receive substantial funding.

If you graduate, take a leave of absence, or withdraw from the program, your eligibility for bursaries, academic grants, travel awards, and scholarships may be affected.

3. University of Ottawa Scholarships

These scholarships are for students who want to study undergraduate, masters, doctoral, and graduate diploma programs.

Individuals who will study in a Master’s or PhD program are eligible for the admission scholarship. The admission scholarship will be awarded on the recommendation of the academic unit to any student with an admission average of 8.0/10 or higher who enrolls full-time in an eligible graduate program for the duration of the scholarship.

Value: At least $15,000 per year

Deadline: There is no deadline.

PhD Scholarship

The University of Ottawa will provide at least $72,000 in financial assistance, or $18,000 per year for four years.
Any student with an admission average of 8.0 or higher who registers full-time without interruption for the duration of the scholarship will be automatically awarded the admission scholarship (12 consecutive terms).

This financial assistance includes:

The Office of the Vice President for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies pays $9,000 per year.
The academic unit will provide a matching component in the form of assistantships or soft-funded scholarships worth at least $9,000 per year. Many programs provide more funding than the bare minimum.

4. University of Calgary International Scholarships

Awards: CA$20,000 to CA$60,000

These scholarships are for international students who want to study at the University of Calgary. (Undergraduate studies)

These scholarships are awarded each year to undergraduate international students entering their first year of any undergraduate degree program in the upcoming fall term who have met the university’s English language proficiency requirement.

They are renewable in the second, third, and fourth years of study at the University of Calgary if candidates maintain a GPA of 2.60 or higher over a minimum of 24.00 units in the previous fall and winter terms and continue to pay an international differential tuition fee as an international student.

International students who are not Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada and are required to pay a differential fee.
